The First Setup
Grinder · Scale · Brewer · 250g of coffee
A grinder, a scale, a brewer and the coffee.
€21.65 less than buying the four separately. Every price is listed below.
This is what we would hand to someone who has just decided they want to make proper coffee at home, and who does not want to spend six months reading forums to find out what to buy.
It is deliberately in the right order. A grinder first, because that is the purchase that changes the cup. A scale second, because without one you cannot repeat a good brew or work out why a bad one went wrong. And a brewer that is very hard to get wrong.

Returns and guarantee
The guarantee covers faults, not accidents.
Anything we sell has to be free of defects when it reaches you, and we are answerable for that for two years. If a grinder's burrs fail, a scale stops reading, or something arrives cracked, that is ours. We cover the return postage and we repair, replace or refund.
It does not cover damage. A dripper that has been dropped, or a scale that has been through a puddle, has not failed to conform — it has been broken. Nor do burrs blunted by grinding something that is not coffee. That is not covered — though we can usually sell you the part.
Changed your mind? Send the set back within 14 days if the equipment is unused and the coffee bag is unopened, and we will refund it. If you have opened the coffee, return the rest and we will simply deduct the price of the bag.
This is your legal guarantee under Irish and EU law. It is not an extra warranty, and it does not replace your statutory rights. Full returns policy.

- Grinder steel burrs, hand
- Scale 0.1g, with timer
- Brewer flat-bottomed dripper
- Coffee whole bean, 250g
This is a comparison against buying the four items individually. It is not a former price and the set has not been reduced.
Most people buy this in the wrong order.
The usual mistake is to spend the money on the brewer and take the coffee pre-ground. It is exactly backwards, and it is why so much home coffee disappoints.
The grinder changes the cup. Coffee is stale within days of grinding, whatever the bag says. A hand grinder will do more for your coffee than a machine costing five times as much fed with pre-ground beans.
The scale lets you repeat it. Without one you cannot reproduce a good brew, or diagnose a bad one.
The brewer matters least. Which is why the one in this box is a flat-bottomed dripper: forgiving, cheap to run, and very hard to get wrong.
How to brew it.
Dose 18g of coffee, ground fresh — medium, about the coarseness of sea salt.
Water 300g, just off the boil.
Method Rinse the paper. Add the coffee and level the bed. Pour 60g, wait thirty seconds, then pour the rest in two goes.
Time About three minutes. Faster, grind finer. Slower, grind coarser. That is the whole adjustment.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Grinder, scale, brewer, coffee. Add a kettle you already own and you can make excellent coffee this evening.
The only thing we would add later is something to keep it clean — grinder tablets and descaler cost a few euro and make more difference than most upgrades.
The coffee ships whole bean. There is a grinder in the box — that is the entire point of this set, and it is why we do not offer a ground option on it.
On the Chestnut C3S MAX, start around 20 clicks from zero for filter. If the brew runs through in under three minutes, go finer. If it stalls past four, go coarser. That is the whole adjustment, and you will find your number within a week.
Of course. The Chestnut handles filter, cafetiere and espresso if you are patient with it. If espresso becomes the thing, the Chestnut S3 ESP has finer adjustment where espresso lives.
Yes. Send it back within 14 days if the equipment is unused and the coffee bag is unopened.
If you have opened the coffee, return the rest and we will simply deduct the price of the bag. Anything faulty, we cover the return shipping and replace or refund it.
